BENT LIFE self titled Review

BENT LIFE (s/t) 6131 Records

I can’t think of what the hell I would ever need from Lincoln Nebraska. It doesn’t really exist in my world. Until now. BENT LIFE brings that angry tough hardcore that LA and NY are known for. A small thrash influence infused into strong NYHC riffs and breakdowns bring a fresh sound. This EP is dark and ugly and bold.

While I can find a NYHC thread, I don’t think of the usual names. There is an absence of the ‘punk’ element. This is faster, harder, and filled with treachery. BENT LIFE concoct an astonishing alchemy with the attitude of BREAKDOWN/KILLING TIME, the bass/drum rhythm of MADBALL, the sinister tone of ALL OUT WAR, MERAUDER; with the riffs of DMIZE, LEEWAY, BULLDOZE. BENT LIFE have mastered the control of the time shifts in their song to inspire the pit. Which is seriously an important element.

The breakdown alone in “Love to Lose” is worth the cost of a 7”. This EP rips. Every song is focused and delivered with a knockout blow. Production is on point. Each song gets in and does its thing without any extraneous lingering. Each songs mission is to pummel you into submission. Mission Accomplished .

FFO: HARMS WAY, DOWN TO NOTHING, CORNERED, BULLDOZE
